Gisela Beyer Obituary

Gisela Beyer will be remembered as a warm caring mother, grandmother, and a good friend. She is survived by her two children Harry and Andrea. After struggling with Alzheimer's, she passed away peacefully on Saturday evening May 28th, 2022. She experienced World War 2 as a child in Germany. Later, she met her husband, Josef Beyer, in western Germany before moving to the United States. Once she arrived here, she put her talents to use by working as a seamstress. She loved sewing and making clothing for herself and others with her manual foot-pedal operated sewing machine.

She cooked and cared for her family every day. After her husband passed away, she worked at a brush manufacturer and as a matron for a school bus company before her retirement. She always loved children and taking care of others in need. She was ultimately the backbone of our family with her strong love and devotion. Gisela tried to look at every situation from a positive perspective and still maintained a sense of humor while also having a strong sense of duty to her family.

Her two grandchildren, Michael and Christopher, affectionately always called her "Oma" and often looked forward to her delicious meals. Mike and Chris often could not start their day without her morning oatmeal which she lovingly prepared.
Gisela was very physically active and met her friend Hubert at the gym where she always enjoyed swimming. They lived together and provided companionship for each other for many years. They both loved to walk along the park paths in Bayside and enjoyed the beauty of nature.

Oma will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
