Catherine M. "Kay" Kiely

Catherine Mary Kiely passed away on March 21, 2013, in Florida after a brief respiratory illness. She was 90 years old. Born in 1922 in County Waterford, Ireland, to Edward Curran and Bridget Towler, she was the devoted wife of John J. Kiely (1921-2000) for 47 years, the loving mother of two sons, John (married to Susan McGann (1981)), and Michael (married to Kimberly Schenone (1984)), and the doting grandmother of five stout boys, Sean (1982), Michael (1984), Joseph (1988), Thomas (1994), and Christopher (2000). In 1949 she emigrated to the United States and settled in New York City, where she was married to John J. Kiely, also from Dungarvan, in September 1953. For 60 years she was a devout member of St. Pancras Church in Glendale, NY. She left this life at New Port Richey, Florida, where she had happily spent every winter since 1990. Though she proudly became an American citizen, her heart was never far from her native land of Ireland. She will be laid to rest next to her loving husband John in New York City. In lieu of making charitable contributions, her family asks that you perform some act of kindness and generosity in her memory.
